Image Attitude Impression is the spring national juried art exhibit at Union Street Gallery in Chicago Heights, IL.

Juror Geoffrey Bates has over thirty years of professional experience in the visual arts as a facility director, curator, educator, and practicing studio artist. As the former curator and assistant director of the Illinois State Museum Lockport Gallery for nearly twelve years and former program director at the Salem College Art Gallery in Winston-Salem, NC, he assembled over thirty-five exhibitions that have received critical praise.

In his current role, Mr. Bates is responsible for maintaining and furthering the collection of monumental contemporary sculpture in one of the few premier, permanent sculpture parks in the country. Its collection contains numerous important works considered modern masterpieces from acclaimed artists like Mark diSuvero, Martin Puryear, Mary Miss and Bruce Naumann. In addition to his work as a curator, Bates is the author of several important articles on abstract contemporary art.
