Der Zeitgenosse is a national juried exhibition of contemporary art at Eastern Washington University Gallery of Art in Cheney, WA (outside Spokane).
Juror Megan Murphy received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Oregon's Maryhurst University in 1992, and later went on to study theology with Benedictine Monks at Mt. Angel Abbey where she completed her Master of Art in Theology in 1995. Ms. Murphy's professional work includes a variety of roles as an artist and a facilitator of the arts. Ms. Murphy has had over fifteen solo exhibitions in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon, and New York and is represented by PDX Contemporary Art in Portland, Oregon, and Gilman Contemporary in Sun Valley, Idaho. Her work is represented in the collections of the Tacoma Art Museum, The Lemelson Foundation, The Yale Collection, and the Portland Art Museum. From 1997 Ms. Murphy worked in the Arts Department at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts in a variety of different capacities, including serving as Director of Visual Arts Programs, and in 2004 she founded Artocracy.org in her quest to support the further development of the arts and to help make the joy of living with art more accessible and educational for all. Currently, she lives in Hailey, Idaho with her family in order to be closer to the empty space that is her content in her paintings and drawngs.
